Borno

Whether you like hiking in the mountains or skiing or relaxing under the sun, Borno is waiting for you!

Borno, with the ski resort of Monte Altissimo, is the ideal destination for those who prefer the tranquillity and familiarity of small towns as opposed to crowded, trendier resorts.

Twenty kilometres of trails await ski lovers, which wind their way between 1000 and 1700 metres above sea level, evenly distributed between slopes for beginners, intermediate skiers and experts, and a snow park for freestylers.

The meadows and pine forests that surround the trails are the perfect place to be explored with snowshoes, where visitors can leisurely admire the beautiful landscapes of Presolana and Adamello. Borno, is actually located on a natural boundary between the two valleys, the Camonica and Scalve valleys, on a plateau well exposed to the sun that appears to have been designed specifically for those who love to explore nature.

Thanks to its borderline location, Borno was already an obligatory point of passage hundreds of years ago. Ruins from prehistoric and Roman times have been discovered in the area, while the towers that still can be seen in the centre of the village date back to the Middle Ages. A walk through the streets allows you to discover its most beautiful corners and admire the many sights that hark back to the past: portals, coats of arms, balconies, facades and fountains.

The dynamism that has always characterised this community is also found in the liveliness of the initiatives that animate both the summer and winter seasons: concerts, events for children, skiing and torchlight descents by night. Borno is also part of the Orobie Ecomuseum, a project that aims to promote the area's unique features along paths that represent the various local identities. These routes provide insights in the local economy, environmental, religious, historical and artistic life of this place that has successfully managed to integrate the past and modernity.
